Today my sisters Q2 and Mariah turn four years old. Four!

Time flies and I missed posting a birthday wish to Q2 last year but I did the year before.

We missed most of Mariah’s birthdays because last July marked her first year of actually ~~moving in and tormenting me~~ coming to live with us.

Q2 makes a good sheriff and keeps Mariah in line.

I love both my sisters.

Good-Bye Our Sweet Quest

Good-bye our sweet Quest. You have the same pretty green eyes your sister ShyGurl had.

Go romp with her, she is waiting at the Rainbow Bridge for you.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together….

Cat Dementia

My sister Quest seems to be exhibiting some of the signs of cat dementia. From what Momma found on the internet, those can include:

Spatial disorientation or confusion – getting trapped in corners or forgetting the location of the litter box.
Yes! Yes! :-/
Altered relationships either with their owners or other pets in the household – increased attention seeking or aggression.
She seeks almost constant attention during her waking hours when one of the humans are around.
Increased irritability or anxiety, or decreased response to stimuli.
Changes in sleeping patterns.
Sleep? Does she sleep? She just paces and paces…Okay wait, she will sleep if one of the humans is holding her.
Inappropriate vocalization such as loud crying at night.
Yes! Yes!!
Loss of memory, such as forgetting commands or breaking house training.
Oh boy, yes.
Changes in activity – aimless wandering or pacing, or reduced activity.
She wanders aimlessly most of the time, unless she’s standing still in one spot….for half an hour at a time.
Lack of interest in food, although some cats actually want more food.
She has the increased desire for food.
Decreased grooming.
She has stopped grooming altogether.
Confusion about time, such as forgetting that they have just been fed.
Yep.

Surely someone out there has experience with this or words of wisdom or something that perhaps helped you with the situation?

Disneyland!

My Momma and Poppa went to Disneyland not too long ago. They had a fabulous time but you know what? They didn’t bring us a mouse! I heard there are mice there….Mickey Mouse, right?

Comfort In Her Arms

My poor older sister Quest seems to be mostly deaf and mostly blind. She wanders aimlessly and seems to forget where she’s going or what she’s doing. She’s really showing her age.

This is where she finds comfort and where she prefers to be — in someone’s arms, safely cradled. Here she’s finding comfort in Momma’s arms.

Mariah’s First Year

It has been one year since Mariah came to live IN our house instead of roaming homeless.

One year ago: As you can see, she uhhh, had a hard time relaxing….

Now: Has perfected the art of relaxation.
